Students at Yasuragi Dojo study what is know as Jissen Kobudo*, which literally means, traditional martial arts for real combat. Jissen Kobudo is a complete fighting art which dates itself back to the Warring States period of Japanese history, when combative expertise was a daily necessity.

Our curriculum is drawn from six classical military traditions and include such proficiencies as close quarter grappling and striking, edged weaponry, pole arms, baton, arresting, restraint and unorthodox weaponry. A keen emphasis on the fundamentals is essential for technical excellence within any martial art training, and for this reason all students receive specific rank requirements per training level and are reviewed and promoted within a structure appropriate to their abilities and in accord with our Sensei’s requirements. *The term Kobudo is not to be confused with the weaponry arts used by practitioners of the Archipelagos Ryukyu Island arts of Kobudo found in authentic Karate Dojo.
