The study of classical Samurai weaponry is an integral part of learning at Yasuragi Dojo. While gaining new and diverse skills, students develop their power and body movement through the application and use of weapons. As well, each student studying particular weapons will enhance their understanding of timing, leverage and distance – critical aspects to all levels of martial arts. Plus it’s fun!

At Yasuragi Dojo, students will study staff weapons, polearms, chain and rope weapons, projectile weaponry and unconventional weapons that were often regarded as tools of Japan’s Ninja. Weapon training is taught in three month blocks, each covering the fundamentals and first forms (shoden) of a particular weapon and all lessons follow the sequence of training as has been studied for generations.
