Kosen Judo is a variation of the Kodokan competitive ruleset that was developed and flourished at the koto senmon gakko technical colleges in Japan in the first half of the twentieth century.
Kosen Judo rules allow for greater emphasis of ne-waza (ground techniques) than typically takes place in competitive Judo and it is sometimes regarded as a distinct style of judo.
The Yasuragi Dojo Kosen Judo program is a study group started in 2023 and is committed to expanding and sharing the benefits of traditional Judo. Our priority in to support the vision of the founder of Kodokan Judo, by using our Judo as a means to promote:
"harmonious development and eventual perfection of human character"
Our Kosen Judo program is not openly advertised, and current enrollment to this program is by invite or application approval. If you are interested in joining the study group, please fill out an application to the Dojo and we will be in touch within one day to set up an interview.
