TRADITIONAL KOSEN JUDO

Kosen Judo is a variation of the Kodokan competitive ruleset that was developed and flourished at the koto senmon gakko technical colleges in Japan in the first half of the twentieth century.
Kosen Judo rules allow for greater emphasis of ne-waza (ground techniques) than typically takes place in competitive Judo and it is sometimes regarded as a distinct style of judo.
The Yasuragi Dojo Kosen Judo program is a study group started in 2023 and is committed to expanding and sharing the benefits of traditional Judo. Our priority in to support the vision of the founder of Kodokan Judo, by using our Judo as a means to promote:
"harmonious development and eventual perfection of human character"
Our Kosen Judo program is not openly advertised, and current enrollment to this program is by invite or application approval. We do not charge for this program, however are selective about those who train, in order to maintain a focus on honest, rigorous tradition. If you are interested in joining the study group, please fill out an application to the Dojo and we will be in touch within one day to set up an interview.
People from all backgrounds and experience are welcome to apply. The only thing we look for is a willingness to follow the true spirit of traditional Judo.
